Shoes at a door spread sideways. Six pairs on the floor take a run of wall that a hallway does not have, and the fix is to stack the same six pairs into one column instead. This rack does that with flat trays and X shaped side brackets, one pair per tier, six tiers high.

Assembly

Each tray takes two X shaped brackets that push into moulded slots, and the next tray drops onto the tops of those brackets. There are no screws, so there is nothing to lose and nothing to overtighten. Leave tiers off and you get a shorter rack: three tiers under a desk, five in a bathroom, six against a wall.

Care

Wipe the trays with a damp cloth. Grit tracked in on soles collects in the corner of each tray, and a rack that never gets wiped will scratch the next pair you put on it.

Good to know

One pair per tier is the honest number. Boots will not fit under the tray above, and a pair of wide running shoes fills a tier on its own. A push fit column is also only as steady as the floor under it: on carpet, the bottom tray settles unevenly and the whole stack leans, so it wants a hard floor and a wall behind it.
