Texture does the work that a pattern would do on a plain vase, and it does it in one color. The surface here is raised and worked over the whole body, so the light picks out the relief and the color stays deep: maroon, dark slate gray, steel blue, orange.

Three profiles run through the range. The short one suits a low table where you look down into it, the tall ones carry stems above a shelf line, and the wide one spreads a bunch out instead of gathering it.

Good to know

These take water for stems, not soil for a plant. There is nothing at the bottom for water to escape through, so a plant potted straight into one sits in whatever it gets. Keep the nursery pot it came in, drop that inside, and lift it out at the sink when it needs a drink.

Care

Empty and rinse between bunches, since stem residue settles into a textured interior and dries there. For the outside, a soft dry brush pulls dust out of the relief better than a cloth, which just rides over the high points.
