The fist is the fixture. A cast hand comes out of the wall and grips the bulb holder, which means the bulb you choose does the rest of the work: it is the shade, the light and most of the look.

So buy the bulb with the lamp. A clear Edison filament suits the weathered finish and throws the warm dim light the shape is asking for. A frosted modern bulb in the same grip turns the whole thing into a work light in a garage.

Materials

Cast resin under an aged, rubbed finish, with the knuckles and tendons picked out in relief. It reads as pitted iron from across a room and weighs a fraction of what iron would, which is the reason it hangs on a plain wall anchor instead of a joist.

Good to know

Right hand and left hand are separate versions: pick the way the fist should face.
Mounting hardware is included. The bulb is not.
An exposed filament throws light in every direction, glare included.
Set the height before you drill: knuckles at shoulder height look deliberate, at head height they look like an obstacle in a hallway.

Care

Brush the dust out of the knuckle grooves dry, and let the bulb cool before you work near it. The aged look lives in the surface coat, so a scouring pad takes the age off along with the grime.
