A cone goes in the recess at the back of the neck. Light it, wait for the ember to catch, blow out the flame, and the smoke works its way through the hollow head and leaves in a thin stream between the lips.
That is the whole trick, and it decides where she goes: a shelf, an altar corner, the top of a dresser, somewhere you sit and watch rather than pass by.
Size
8 in (20 cm) tall, roughly the height of a wine glass. She holds a corner of a shelf without claiming the whole surface, and she sits high enough that the smoke has somewhere to go.
Good to know
- Heat resistant resin, molded and finished by hand.
- Cones only. A stick has nowhere to sit in this design.
- Still air matters: a ceiling fan or an open window breaks the stream apart.
- Ash falls in the neck recess, so keep her on a tile or a coaster.
Care
Cone smoke leaves a film. Wipe the chin, the lips and the chest with a dry cloth after each burn, before it settles into the sculpted detail. Let the recess cool, then lift the ash out with a small spoon instead of tipping her upside down over a bin.
