Matte Beige Ceramic Vase, 12 Sculptural Styles

Beige on beige is the trap with sculptural ceramics. Put a sand colored vase against a cream wall and the silhouette you paid for vanishes into the paint. These want a dark shelf, a wood grain, or a stack of books behind them before the shape does any work.

Good to know

Treat them as dry vases. For fresh flowers, drop a small jam jar inside and arrange into that: the water stays off the clay, and you lift the jar out to change it instead of tipping a heavy shape over a sink. Matte clay also shows fingerprints and dust in a way glaze does not, which is the cost of the finish.

Care

Dust with a dry brush, into the curves where a cloth skates over. For a mark, use a barely damp cloth and dry it right away, since a wet ring on unpolished beige takes its time to fade.
