Desk planters live or die on the opening: too narrow and nothing fits, too wide and it becomes a place people drop paperclips. This is a molded vinyl bust of a girl mid bubble, open at the top, with either cat ears or bunny ears above the face.

The cat version stands 4 in (10.4 cm), about a coffee mug, and the bunny ears add most of an inch on top. Either one is a desk object: it holds a small succulent, a few short stems, or a fistful of pens.

Good to know

Treat it as a cover pot rather than a planting pot. Keep the succulent in its plastic nursery pot, drop that inside, and lift it out to water at the sink. It costs nothing to do and it saves the one thing that kills desk plants, which is water with nowhere to go.

Cut flowers work the same way: stand a small glass or jar inside and change the water in that.
