Good to know

Where you put it matters more than what it is. A dragon half hidden in a fern bed, with one wing showing through the fronds, does the thing a dragon is supposed to do. The same piece alone in the middle of a bare patio looks like a garden center display, and no amount of scale detail rescues it. Give it something to emerge from.

Outdoor sculpture picks up algae on its shaded side within a season in a damp climate. That is not a fault, it is what happens to anything that stands still outside, and a stiff brush in spring takes it back off. Plenty of people leave it and call it patina.

Care

Brush it down in spring and rinse with a hose rather than a pressure washer. High pressure water gets under a surface finish at the edge of raised detail and lifts it, and scales are all edges.
